Under rug heaters are a specialised type of heating mat (also called a heating pad) designed to be placed beneath rugs and carpets. They provide safe, localised warmth without the need for permanent floor heating installation.
How To Use A Rug Heater SafelyÂ
*Recommended Fit and Placement Of The Rug Heater
Measure the width(w) and length(l) of your rug in cm. Select a heater size slightly smaller than the rug to avoid the heater extending beyond the rug’s edges.  Consider opting for multiple smaller heaters if your rug is not a standard size.
Rug underlay is recommended in all situations to minimize downward heat loss into your floor. The underlay may be the same size or slightly bigger than the heating mat, yet smaller than the rug so as not to create a tripping hazard.

The underlay supplied is Belgotex Green Underlay. It provides thermal insulation and anti-slip features, while also being odorless, dust-free, lump-free, and highly resistant to mould and mildew. It’s made from 100% recycled staple fiber blend (PP & PA6), providing protection for delicate floor surfaces i.e. wood and laminated flooring and improving underfoot comfort.
The heating mats are suitable for all floor finishes. Not suitable for use underneath foam or rubber backed carpets.
The under rug heaters are maintenance free and carry a 60 month warranty.

My purchase of this heater was to maintain a comfortable temperature in my music room.
It’s 6 x 3 m and contains my stereo equipment and my two period keyboard instruments: my harpsichord and clavichord. Both require a controlled climate otherwise the timber moves and they develop cracks.
Ideal museum temperature is 20°C.
I’m happy to say, the undercarpet heater maintains a constant 17.5°C in this cold weather.
Previously, the lowest temperature in the room was 11°C.
